Who nose?

The 50th anniversary Doctor Who special (or, the Adventures of Sand Shoes, Dickie Bow, and Grandpa) was yesterday!  I noticed an old Whovian picture post of mine getting some extra hits, so why not another?  Feel free to discuss speculations and spoilers, sweeties, in the comments.

  1. Dear Cygnus,
my shelves are overspilling with English detective DVDs and English comedies and films - as I enjoy to see the 'real thing'. In Germany TV broadcasts very late (if at all) popular English or American entertainment (except blockbusters) - and Doctor Who is not among it. So I have either to buy or try Youtube. I hear/read so much about it - will try to get a glimpse of it. Britta

    1. It's a wonderful show, with a positive message: humanity is worth saving. It's also extremely British. (We often have to put on the captions to figure out what the [sometimes fast-talking] characters are saying!) :-)

  2. I am still in a state of Whovian happiness after seeing Saturday's special! Just everything - we went from 11 to 13 Doctors! How excited were you to see Capaldi for that short 5 seconds or however long it was?!
And now the Doctor has a mission and hope again...I'm excited for what's coming, and dreading it too - Christmas episode is next!

    1. I'm very much looking forward to Capaldi. I loved Tennant and Smith, but I think the special highlighted how much 10 and 11 were sometimes too, um, skippy-go-lucky (if that's a word) for their own good. You get what I mean. Capaldi's got some more obvious gravitas that might be a good tonic.

    1. Yes. It took me a minute to figure them all out. I guess I still haven't seen every one of the Matt Smith episodes... the girl next to Lucy must be one of the "Vampires of Venice," but we haven't watched that one yet. After December, we'll be on the lookout for a full 11th Doctor DVD set. :-)
